As the President/CEO of the company, I have been involved in the automotive industry in some capacity starting in 1977 after being honorably discharged as a Disabled American Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Over the course of my years working for a variety of dealerships and attending multitudes of training seminars and courses, I have become extremely well educated and versed in the industry. I have held positions from lot guy, new and used sales, leasing, consignment manager, finance manager, commercial/fleet manager, new and used sales management.
I have watched how the industry has changed, and how the attitude of the consumer towards the dealership experience has deteriorated. The majority of the consumers I talk with despise the entire experience. They have voiced their displeasure from the time they drive on the lot (salesperson at your door before you open it) to the time they go through the third different person trying to convince them of something they’re not sure about or really don’t want. Many of them hate confrontation and others just didn't know better, so they sat there and endured it for hours. By the time they were done and ready to drive off, they literally hated their new car...and that's a shame. This is supposed to be one of the more enjoyable and exciting purchases that we make in our life time. These people know that this is not an industry wide problem, that there are good dealers out there, they just don't know who they are and they don't want to take the time or risk to find out
It was because of these experiences and the knowledge given to me by my own client base that I became more aware of the fact that more and more of the consumers out there are looking and willing to hire an individual to take the stress, anxieties and time involvement out of the process. They are looking for someone to represent their best interest in the areas of purchasing, leasing, upgrading and maintaining their personal and business vehicles. They wanted to be able to deal with the same person that they had developed a good and trusting working relationship with no matter what vehicle they wanted to purchase or lease. They convinced me that “change” is not always a good thing, especially when it came to the purchasing of their vehicles.
The auto industry is like most others in the fact that, if you don’t work in it daily and keep yourself in touch with all of the changes and different programs, then you most likely can and will miss some aspect that would work to your advantage. Hiring a professional who specializes in their industry is something we all do because we know that we “honestly” don’t know. Most of us have computers we work on daily, but if it breaks down, we call an IT person. Why? Because we don’t deal with repairing it every day! If your auto breaks down, we call a mechanic. Why? Because we don’t deal with repairing it every day! If we need insurance we call an agent or broker. When we need a home we call an agent or broker. If we need a car, all of a sudden we’re a pro, right? Not really!!! Who do you think is going to be better at anything that we do in life…someone who deals with it every 2, 3, 4 maybe 5 years and buys one vehicle, or someone that deals with it daily and helps hundreds of people buy vehicles? You’re a professional at what you do because you do it daily, well so are those in the automotive industry. As someone with over 25 year’s experience, I can and will make sure that we protect your best interest.
